John Martin Pianist September 6th 2008 It's quite a while since I have left a concert on a high but last night's performance at the Sydney Opera House by Lisa Budin gave me just that.The excellent aspect of her singing-for me - is that Lisa has the same purity and beauty of tone as Karen Carpenter but she does it her way. After all,the particular performance is ' remembering '. In the 1970's I enjoyed attending a concert by Karen and Richard Carpenter in Sydney. That musical event left a lasting impression on me but I have to say that sitting listening intently to Lisa last night,I was given the same joy.There was nothing missing ! It was excellent from start to finish and as for the musicians they were brilliant. Looking around the theater and seeing an audience enjoying themselves bopping,and clapping along to all the songs,all ages,all types,groups of women ,young and old lovers,it was just fabulous.
